Who should sign up for this event?

You!!! These events are open to all paddlers who are confident in their ability to safely complete their chosen distances. This means that racers must all be self sufficient on the water and have the ability to self rescue. Racers must all be wearing a PFD and Leash at all times during these events.

While these races are open to paddlers of all abilities we are also proud to be crowning Provincial Surfski Champions as sanctioned by Canoe Kayak BC, as well as National SUP Champions as sanctioned by Surf Canada. See specific race descriptions for more details on these titles.

Do you have any smaller practice events?

Yes we do. You can try out the small distance race at our 'Tuesday Night Race' Series. This is the perfect way for you to test the waters and see whether you'd like to 'go bigger' for the Whipper in September. The 'TNR' is open to beginners and inflatable stand up paddleboards can also compete.

How do I become BC Surfski Champion?

Sanctioned by Canoe Kayak BC, we will be awarding provincial championships in 4 different categories.  To be in the running for a spot on the Provincial Surfski Podium you must participate in the 18km course paddling in a surfski!  The categories being awarded are listed below:
U18 - Boys
U18 - Girls
Men's - Open
Women's - Open
Men's Masters - 40-59
Women's Masters - 40-59
Men's Senior Masters - 60+
Women's Senior Masters - 60+

Is it similar to the Tuesday Night Race Series?

Yes. It's very close in the way it'll run and feel. Except the Whipper has more excitement, a buzz connected to it. It also has longer distances you can pick. At the Whipper, you'll have your own race jersey, there's bigger prizes, a meal and drink at the end, and a post-race get-together (a mini party if you will!). If you're still unsure, check the video out below to see a youtube short showcasing our 'Tuesday Night Race'.
